Fuel Assistance and other energy programs are available at The Grapevine Family & Community Resource Center in Antrim on Thursdays between 8:30 and 4:30 beginning November 4. All residents of Antrim and nearby towns who need help with heating bills are encouraged to apply. To make an appointment call Southern NH Services at 1-877-757-7048.
The Fuel Assistance Program provides benefits, on a funds-available basis, to qualified households to help heat homes or apartments during the heating season. Renters, as well as homeowners, can apply for the Fuel Assistance Program, even if heat is included in the rent. The benefits amounts range from $150 to $1125 per season.
The Electric Assistance Program provides a monthly discount ranging from 5% to 70% of an eligible customer’s electric bill. There is a waiting list for this program for new applicants but new customers are enrolled as funds become available. Customers already on the program can continue to receive the discount if they are still income-eligible and if they make an appointment to re-certify their application.
Customers must re-apply for both fuel and electric assistance every year.
Southern NH Services also offers a Weatherization Program, the Neighbor-Helping-Neighbor fund (NHN), and other smaller assistance programs. The NHN can help households with their utility bills if they do not qualify for Fuel Assistance, have a disconnect notice from their utility, and can demonstrate a financial hardship.
For more information about these programs and eligibility requirements, call The Grapevine at 588-2620 or Southern NH Services at 1-877-757-7048, or visit www.snhs.org. Southern NH Services is the Community Action Agency for Hillsborough County.
