4th Annual Sprin Walk for Families
Spacer
Grapevine “Walk for Families” in Antrim
This Saturday, The Grapevine Family & Community Resource Center is hosting its 4th Annual Spring Walk, a 4.2 mile walk in Antrim to honor families and raise awareness and support for Grapevine programs for children and parents.  Registration begins at 9:30am at The Grapevine, with the walk beginning at 10am.
Grapevine parents came up with the idea for an annual walk, with the first held in Hancock, the second in Bennington and last year in Francestown.  This year’s walk begins at The Grapevine, travels up Main Street to West Street, then to Old Hancock Road, down Pleasant Street to Main and back to The Grapevine.  A van with car seats will follow the walkers in case a ride back is needed.
April is Strengthening Families Month and, according to Grapevine Executive Director Kristen Vance, “we will be honoring families on this first Saturday in May as we walk.”  Vance adds that “The Grapevine recognizes the inherent strengths and gifts in all families—parents and children alike.  We believe that building on family strengths, and welcoming families into a supportive community, is the best way to ensure the health and well-being of families and communities.”
Those who would like to join the walk are invited to help raise money for Grapevine programs by gathering pledges from sponsors.  Chris Salmon of Old Hancock Glass created commemorative glass medallions for those who gather $20 or more in pledges.
Pledge sheets can be downloaded bleow, and are also available at The Grapevine, and at town libraries in Antrim, Hancock, Bennington and Francestown.  Call The Grapevine at 588-2620 for more information.
Grapevine board members Lauren Kirkpatrick, Auralee Burchett and Sean Sweeney are this year’s walk organizers.  The Grapevine is a nonprofit organization, located behind the Tuttle Library in Antrim and serving the people of Antrim, Hancock, Bennington, Francestown and nearby towns.
