Certified Abstract of a Birth:
NH vital records are considered to be private and access to them is restricted to those individuals with a "direct and angibleinterest" in a record in accordance with NH Stature.
To obtain a certified copy of your birth, you must fill out an application:
-- Name at birth
-- Date of birth
-- Place of birth
-- Mother's maiden name
-- Father's name
-- Purpose for the certificate
If you are requesting a record for someone other than yourself, you will need to state your relationship to the person whose record you want.
The cost of a search for vital record is $15.00. If a record is found after the search, a certified copy will be issued free of charge. Additional certified copies of the same record, ordered at the same time, are available at the cost of $10.00 each.
Birth records prior to 1901 are exempt from these access restrictions. You can access these records through the local town clerk or through the New Hampshire Division of Vital Records Administration. The center is open to the public at 8:15 - 11:45 am and 12:15 - 4:15 pm Monday through Friday (vault closes at 3:30 pm on Wednesday). Volunteers will assist you in your search.
