SEPTEMBER IS LIBRARY CARD SIGN-UP MONTH
September is Library Card Sign-up Month – a time when the American Library Association and libraries across the country remind parents that a library card is the most important school supply of all because ibraries play an important role in the education and development of children. Studies show that children who are read to at home and who use the library regularly perform better in school and are more likely to continue to use the library as a source for lifetime learning. This is also a good time for parents and other adults to get a library card. Stop by the Library any time to sign up for a card – IT’S FREE!
SENIOR CREATIVE ARTS EXHIBIT- September
The James A. Tuttle Library invites you to participate in (and view) our Senior Creative Arts Exhibit, now through the end of September.
If you are a senior citizen and would like to share any of your creative talents for display in the Reference/Reading Room of the Library for the month of September, please stop by and speak with any of the staff, or call us with any questions. We would love to display your handiwork in any medium – fiber arts, quilting, painting, sculpture, pottery, photography, poetry, creative writing, etc. We already have items from over 25 people, but there’s room for more!
CAREGIVER SUPPORT GROUP – September-ongoing
The first meeting of the Caregiver Support Group will be Wednesday, Sept. 23rd at 11:00 a.m. at the Library. Facilitator Madelyn Klose will help plan and create a regular schedule which would be convenient for those who provide care for their loved ones at home. There has been much interest expressed in the formation of this group which hopefully, will help support its members during a challenging period in life. It would also provide caregivers an opportunity for a well-deserved break. Please call Melissa Lawless at the Library if you need additional information.
SCRAPBOOKING WORKSHOP - October
Join us for a night of scrapbooking and fun with Antrim’s Laurie Cass-Griggs on Wednesday, October 14th from 7-9 p.m.! There will be instruction, as well as hands-on layout creating and a make-and-take project. If possible, please bring along 3 or 4 photos, a pair of scissors, some type of adhesive (a glue stick works well), and any scrapbook paper or cardstock that you want to use.
