TIF District Meeting Minutes 02/21/06

Members present: R. Edmunds, R. Edwards, J. White, M. Steele, W. Prokop.

The board reviewed and accepted the minutes of the meeting of 11/30/05.

The board was advised that our phase II sidewalk project will be presented to the T.E. Committee on March 6, 2006 at 1:00 in the afternoon. Each project has been allocated 10 minutes for the presentation. The state will be reviewing 57 project requests that day. Any members who would like to attend the presentation are welcome to attend.

The board then reviewed and discussed projects that should be considered for 2006 and are mentioned in warrant articles 16 and 17 for voting at Town Meeting on March 16th.

The board then discussed community needs that should be investigated further, such as: a teen center; Kristen Vance joined the committee to discuss the teen center need and the possibility of converting the upstairs of the Aiken Barn into this type of space. After some discussion it was agreed to look into this further and to consider it as a 2007 project. We will obtain some estimates of cost and building code requirements. Kristen will look into grant possibilities and will check with Peterborough and Hillsborough regarding the operation of their teen centers, cost, the pluses and negatives, staffing, etc. We will have a follow up meeting on this in May or June of this year.

David Essex will have an article in the June issue of the Limrik that will highlight what has been accomplished since the “Antrim Next” meetings in 1999. It was suggested that a follow up meeting of this type may be needed to see what people are thinking today. This suggestion will be passed onto the Master Plan committee for consideration.

The meeting adjourned at 9:00 p.m. The next meeting will be in May.

Respectively submitted:
