POSTPONED

On August 25th and 26th, Postponed from August 11 & 12 Antrim Grange will hold
its 5th annual Penny Sale (sometimes also known as Chinese Auction).
Prizes offered range from arts, crafts, books, toys, dvds, plants, gently
used household items, and products and gift certificates provided by local merchants.

Participants can buy a sheet of 20 raffle tickets ($2 each or 3 for $5) and
disperse the tickets among dozens of prizes, taking chances on any/all
of the items they hope to win. Penny Sale hours for registering, purchasing and
distributing tickets are August 25th, 4-7 p.m., and Saturday, August 26th,
11 a.m.-6:00 p.m. The winners will be drawn and announced on Saturday
evening after the “Summah Suppah”. Winners do not have to be present
and will be notified following the drawing to make arrangements for prize pick-up.

On Saturday evening, August 25th, we will hold a “Summah Suppah” from
5-6:30 p.m. A variety of salads, along with ham, chop suey, baked beans,
homemade rolls, and desserts will be served. Price is $8 for adults,
$4 for children age 4-12, and free for kids 3 and under.

Antrim Grange, is in the beginning stages  of a huge fundraising effort to restore our historic hall.
The Grange has done and continues to do a lot of community service in the area.
Some examples are as follows: we built a community garden behind town hall that is
free for those who need food including the Antrim/Bennington Food Pantry patrons.
Host an annual Art Show to promote local artists. Purchase and hand out dictionaries
to 3rd graders in the ConVal School District. We host public educational programs,
often with guest speakers, throughout the year

.Now, we are the ones asking for help. The small repairs done through the
years kept the building cosmetically sound, but now the repairs are beyond
our expertise or bank account.
We are looking to raise a minimum of $35,000 for repairs.
This include the cost of such projects as the stone foundation,
a new support beam, the  walls/ceilings of horsehair plaster that
are crumbling in spots, the roof that needs re-shingling.

Antrim Grange No. 98, with members from Antrim and Bennington (whose local Grange closed in 1975)
and beyond, has served our community for more than 130 years. It is one of the few Granges still in existence
today that is fortunate to own its own hall.
