Antrim Senior Center Sponsors Presentation
On Dick and Robin Loveland’s Trip to New Zealand
Richard Loveland of Antrim will do a presentation about his and his wife’s six week tour of New Zealand on July 13 at 10 a.m. upstairs in the Antrim Town Hall. The presentation is sponsored by the Antrim Area Senior Center. There is no charge.
In 2000 Dick and Robin Loveland did what they refer to as “the best vacation we have ever had.”~ They flew to New Zealand and did a six week trip spending four weeks on the South Island and two weeks on the North Island (total of 3,000 miles).~ The highlight of the trip was hiking the Milford Track, described as “The Finest Walk in the World” in 1908.~ This was a four day, three night trek of 33 miles going up and over a 3500’ pass.
New Zealand offers a lot more than the Milford Track with fiords, thermal fields, mountains, glaciers, trout fishing, great hiking all within a compact geography.~ It has friendly English speaking residents and is a good value for tourists with varying accommodations – tent, bunk, motel, farm stays and hotels.~ Everyone that has been there loves it!~ The presentation will highlight all of the great experiences the Loveland’s had in their six weeks.
