The Silver Lining Youth Circus is a company of talented troupers between the ages of 11 and 21 who juggle, unicycle, tumble, and clown in this delightful family show. The circus has live music played by local favorite Leslie Vogel of Folksoul Music, and recorded pieces composed by Nathan Schwartzberg.
“We are thrilled to welcome~Silver Lining Youth Circus~to perform in Antrim,” says Celeste Lunetta, Antrim’s recreation director. “Youth Circus Arts are one way we can promote fun, confidence, life and athletic skills like perseverance, strength, balance and more. We hope that lots of folk, young at heart, or not, come out and experience the results of these dedicated and fun-loving kids.”
Some of the Silver Lining troupers will attend the national festival of the American Youth Circus Organization (AYCO) in Seattle, Washington in August.  AYCO promotes the participation of youth in circus arts, and the festival brings together circus kids from all over the United States to take workshops, learn new skills, and share their enthusiasm for circus arts.  This Silver Lining Youth Circus performance is a fundraiser for scholarships to send some of the Silver Lining troupers to AYCO so they can learn great new skills to bring back to teach children here in New Hampshire.
Jackie Davis, EdM, the founding director of the Silver Lining Circus Camp and a founding member of AYCO, has been promoting positive youth development through circus arts since 1996. She is pursuing her PhD at the University of British Columbia where she is researching the effects of circus arts on youth development. Coaching with her this summer is Jacob Skeffington, a former trouper with Circus Smirkus, a graduate of the National Circus School in Montreal, and a performer on Cirque du Soleil’s “Kooza.” Also co-directing is Ellie Davis, a veteran of the Silver Lining Youth Circus, Flying Gravity Circus, and Hilltop Circus, and a Smith College student majoring in theater and minoring in film.
