Centre Cemetery.Cleanup

Organizer Stephen Burkhardt
On Saturday the 27th, a few of us have volunteered to begin clearing the overgrowth and tree falls around the Centre Cemetery. This historic cemetery was started in 1826 when the brick church was built. There are several early residents of Antrim, as well as revolutionary patriots buried there. It is located off 31 travelling north, just past the Grange building. It is also the center point of the Hurlin trail that goes from the old Centre on top of Meetinghouse Hill to Lily Pond. Our goal is to make the cemetery more accessible for visitors and to raise the awareness of its historical significance, in preparation for its 200 year celebration in 2026.
Anyone who may be interested to see the cemetery that day would be welcomed. Helpers would be very welcomed. Long sleeves, long pants, bug netting and repellents are the fashion of the day. Note, we will working on private property that abuts the north and east walls, with full consent of the property owners. Antrim Grange #98 will be holding their yard sale around the corner that same time. PM if interested.
