Tim Theberge, Lead Policy Analyst in the U.S., Department of Labor’s Office of Trade Adjustment Assistance from the US Department of Labor will address Foreign Trade and America’s Economy.

Tim has been with the Employment and Training Administration of the United States Department of Labor for 23 years.  In that time, Tim has become a recognized national expert in: the Trade Act; the improvement of services to participants and employers through program integration; transition management and layoff aversion through Rapid Response activities; the use of social media and technology solutions to better serve job seekers and employers; grants management; and disaster recovery operations.  In the Office of Trade Adjustment Assistance, he serves as the lead policy analyst for this multi-billion dollar program that serves workers negatively impacted by foreign trade. Most recently, he served as the lead author on the agency’s publication of updated regulations for the Trade Adjustment Assistance Program – the first update to the rules since 1994. Prior to joining the Office of Trade Adjustment Assistance, he worked for the Boston Regional Office as the Regional Trade Coordinator and over the years as the State Lead for: Vermont, Maine, New Jersey, New York, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgins Islands.  He designed, developed, and deployed the agency’s first-ever electronic grants management system to help manage the agency’s more than $40 billion portfolio in grant funds. He is a fifteen-time recipient of the Secretary’s Exceptional Achievement Award.

Tim hails from Methuen, Massachusetts, where is a proud product of public education and graduated from Northeastern University with double BS degrees in Political Science and History.  He is the proud father of three, a loving husband, an Eagle Scout, a Cubmaster for a Cub Scout pack, and the current Chairperson of the Contoocook Valley School Board of SAU#1 in New Hampshire.
