Reflections on My Military Service in Vietnam

On Saturday, December 4th, at 10:30 a.m., the James A. Tuttle Library will resume its Distinguished Speaker Series.  Our speaker will be Dick Dunning, former Principal of the South Meadow School.  After his retirement in 2013, Dick declared “I had 41 years of joy, going to work each day.”  Under Dick’s acclaimed leadership the South Middle School twice won the New Hampshire Middle School of the Year.

Before there was a “Principal Richard Dunning,” however, there was a young man who grew up in Dublin, graduated from Peterborough High School and enrolled at Keene State College.  After his freshman year, at Keene State, Dick enlisted in the United States Army.

Dick will speak about the lessons he learned from serving with the United States Army’s 5th Special Forces Group, 1st Special Forces Airborne in Vietnam.

In order to safeguard patrons’ and staff’s health, the James A Tuttle Library requests that all attendees wear face masks (available at the Library).  For further info, please email Steve Ullman at stephenhullman@gmail.com
