Draft Minutes Antrim Parks and Recreation Commission April 2022

PARC Meeting  4-14-2022  draft

 

In attendance: Isaac, Celeste, Joan, Tim, and Jonas

 

Minutes from the last meeting were corrected and accepted

 

Gregg Lake:  Steve Ulman is requesting a bench at Gregg Lake in honor of Steve Sawyer.  He would like it located near the existing bench, facing the wind turbines.  Tim suggested offsetting benches to complement the existing bench.  Celeste suggested the memorial be incorporated in the master plan for Gregg Lake.  The topic was tabled for further review next month.

LWCF proposal is still in process.  Funds to compliment the grant were approved at the town meeting.  The state Dept. of Recreation is assisting in the preparation of the grant proposal.  A survey will need to be created at a cost of $7540.00 The amount was moved and approved to send off to the selectboard.

A lake assessment report/summery, created by NHDES was presented.  A copy will be sent to the selectboard.

A second canoe/kayak rack was proposed and passed for Gregg Lake.  Tim will purchase materials at Antrim Lumber and build at his earliest convenience.

A handicapped picnic table was suggested by Celeste.  An estimate will be given to her to review next week.

Celeste proposed that town employees be given a beach pass.  The proposal will be sent to the selectboard.  

A raise to $100.00/annually for lake parking pass will be brought to the selectboard.

Linda Morehouse asked to be allowed to set up a table at the fishing derby on May 14th to hand out information about Gregg Lake Association and to recruit lake hosts.

 

Memorial Park:  Requests for reservations, for park use, are coming in.  Tentative dates for Antrim in the Evening will be July- August 16th.  The Antrim Community Board would like to set up food trucks for the event.  Celeste and Jonas will be working on programming for the events.

 

Shea Field:  Celeste is working with Jim Plourde and his staff to get equipment ready for Spring.JP Pest was called in to eliminate a rodent concern.

 

Town Gym:  The gym is being used extensively, including adult activities.The Lions event received a good turnout.  Pickleball was the event of the day.

The exterior doors still need repair.

 

Recreation Dept.:  The bike derby and fishing derby will be held on May 14th.

Fifty bike helmets and fifty bicycle lights were donated through a grant that Celeste had applied for last year.

The cost for stocking fish for the derby has risen to $900.00

 

New Business:  Two more ‘little libraries’ have been built.  The library is hoping that we can install one each at Shea Field, Gregg Lake, Memorial Park and possibly town hall.
