7pm-9:18pm @ Shea Field

Minutes: July minutes approved

Greg Lake:

The lake is seeing a lot of kayak use and a kayak rack was proposed.  The commission discussed cost and construction and how it would be used.  The lake has been very heavily used and additional projects were not feasible this month.  Will bring it up again next meeting.

The Watershed plan was rolled out successfully.  There is a link to the zoom presentation.  Demo ran gardens are being designed.  Resources are being offered to help residents with ideas for what they can do to help water quality.

Memorial Park:

Boy Scout Michael Redmond plans on constructing the gaga ball pit over the weekends of August 29-30 and September 12-13.

Park is in good shape and is being well used.

Goodell Park:

It is unsure if Neff’s truck is on town land or their land. Will try to figure it out.

Shea Field:

GBS requested the field from 2:30-4:30 and the commission agreed to let them have it until 4 as it has been in the past.  It is unsure how many sports teams will take place this fall.  AES will have outdoor classrooms and it was wondered how that will impact field use and scheduling.

Rec Department Update:

Lots of the same.  Beach is busy.  Summer camp is rolling along.  August 22 will be the end of lifeguards at the beach.  Will try to keep staff as long as possible.  Overall staff has been great this year.  Swimming lessons have wrapped up and went well.

Fall soccer will happen but not as part of a league.

Tae Kwan Do and Zumba have reached out about resuming.

Town Gym:

Floor was refinished and looks good.  Unsure how much use it will get do to Covid restrictions.  AES cannot use for PE due to regulations governing school spaces.  Grapevine before and after school programs turned over Boys and Girls Club

Walking Trail:

Francestown built a small parking lot for their new trails for approx $3k.  Commission tentatively will meet the first weekend of September for ground truthing right of way and property boundaries.  Isaac will contact Peter B. about bridge and right of way.

CIP:

Everything will get pushed back a year.  Commission will look to hire a grant writer
