Antrim Parks and Recreation Commission Meeting

October 10, 2019  7:15–9:15 pm

Present: Celeste Lunetta, Joan Gorga, Isaac Lombard, Christine Morris

Minutes: September minutes accepted as amended.

Shea Field

ConVal negotiations.

  • School Board asked to have meeting, suggested to include Donna, Celeste, a Selectman, Joan and Jim Fredrickson, with possibly other SB members.
  • Commission voted to repeat request of approximately two years ago that SD demands be put in writing and submitted ahead of any further meetings.

Pitching Wall. Position marked out; construction not yet begun

Maintenance.

  • Celeste working on removing weeds and preparing field for winter
  • Portable toilets dark late in season. Celeste will get tap lights to install.

Town Gym

ConVal

  • Should address PE teacher’s office in Rec storage closet.
  • One door rotten on the bottom and not making contact with the ground. Celeste will get back to Tim about it.

Pickleball. Still being played outside. Celeste working on scheduling gym time

Memorial Park

Maintenance

  • Pine needles need to be blown off tennis court.
  • Graffiti in skatepark and on bandstand needs to be painted over. Have stain and paint. Maybe Lions are looking for project.

Rec Dept

  • Celeste considering LCHIP &/or LWCF grant applications to replace floor upstairs at Town Hall.
  • Erin willing to work on grant applications
  • Celeste working to create Antrim Recreation Youth Sports Board to get more people involved behind the scenes

Gregg Lake

Beach.  Cell phone signal poor at beach; consider installing Call 911 phones for emergencies

Watershed Management Plan. New Beach/Boat Launch grant not submitted. More time needed to develop plan. NHDES may oppose replacement septic holding tank. Consider composting toilets vs line of portable toilets.  

Budget

Dept budget due Nov 4. No update on CIP.

Walking Trail

  • Before proceeding further should present plan of walking trail primarily on south side of brook with bridge crossing at abutment & no formal parking lot to Selectboard. Celeste will ask to be put on the agenda for Oct. 21.
  • Celeste will ask Jim Plourde about idea of parking on the rise
  • Isaac will seek trail-building advice; will begin laying out trail
  • Joan will ask Peter about bridge construction

Next meeting November 14, 7 pm.
