Antrim Parks and Recreation Commission Meeting
November 14, 2019  7:00–9:07 pm

Town Gym

ConVal

  • Jim Fredrickson and Tim Grossi brought spreadsheet to meeting with calculation that ConVal uses gym 18% of the time. Took 50/50 cost share back to School Board. Next meeting Nov 21.

     Other

  • Gym busy…only 1 hour of open gym time, after school on Tuesdays. We have 4 basketball teams.

Shea Field

ConVal negotiations

  • Celeste to compile use data spreadsheet for Nov 21 meeting.

Water use

  • Water turned off. It is metered separately for Shea Field. Last quarterly bill was much higher than usual. Possible causes were discussed. Celeste will take readings in spring to try to figure out what is happening.

Maintenance

  • Celeste gave the field its final mow, got good training from Tom Irwin re managing problem areas and aerated twice before it froze.
  • Goal mouth area getting worn

Budget

CIP

  • Joan explained CIP request at Planning Board meeting

Department

  • Dept budget up slightly

Walking Trail

  • Isaac to present concept at Nov 18 Select Board meeting

Memorial Park

Maintenance

  • Park getting used a lot
  • TOA hired someone to work on parks.
  • New graffiti at skatepark needs to be removed.
  • Something wrong with lights—Celeste will follow up in spring.

Gregg Lake

Beach  

  • Problem with hornets at bathhouse.
  • Teen Center group may work on replacing steps and door.

Watershed Management Plan

  • Joan spoke at NALMS Conference, was asked to comment on 2020 Master Plan; Action Plan meeting Dec 3.  

Rec Dept

  • Eren completed grant application to C&S Wholesalers; funds will be used for play this year.
  • 25 kids are doing the play.
  • Someone proposed putting changing tables in the bathrooms—Celeste will take under advisement.
  • People coming in to talk with Celeste re new programs
  • Regular programs are under way—skiing, basketball, tumbling, Jump for the Heart
  • Spring sports boards active
  • Celeste to meet with Peterborough re baseball & softball
