In 2020 the Water & Sewer Department performed an Energy Evaluation at the Wastewater Treatment Facility.  The evaluation revealed that with some improvements to our facility, we could save money on our electric and heating costs.

In 2022 we implemented all of the recommendations from the Energy Evaluation, which included:

Removed old insulation in the ceiling and replaced it with blown in insulation and installed a vapor barrier at the operations building.

Installed programmable thermostats and a new boiler control with an outdoor sensor at the operations building.

Installed Variable Frequency Devices (VFD’s) on the blowers for the lagoons.

This allows us to adjust the speed of the blower to add just enough air to reach optimal dissolved oxygen level instead of the blowers running at 100% all the time.

Installed thermostats on the electric heaters at the Pump Stations instead of using the hi-low nob that came on them, this will allow us to set the temperature between 45 and 50 degrees.

It is estimated that these improvements will save us approximately $2800 the first year.

Funding for these improvements were provided through the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services from the U.S. Treasury and the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021.
