The Town of Antrim (the Town) is soliciting proposals from qualified firms for painting the Aiken Barn. This is the main building, not the Avenue A Teen Center. The Town tested the exterior for lead paint, none present.

Scope of Work

The successful bidder shall furnish all labor, materials, and equipment.

Exterior painting of the Aiken Barn.

  1. Prepare, pressure wash, scrape, sand all areas of the building where failing paint is present.
  2. Apply a bonding primer to all scraped bare wood surfaces.
  3. Caulk all areas as needed for gaps, cracks or failed joints are present.
  4. Apply 2 coats of high-quality paint on all exterior siding and trim in like colors.
  5. Paint all siding, sashes, doors, railings, and shutters.
  6. Protection of landscaping, sidewalks, steps, doors, windows and adjacent properties from paint debris and overspray.
  7. Collection containment, and proper disposal of all paint chips, dust, empty containers and waste material.
  8. Removal of all equipment, debris, and materials from Town property upon completion of the project.

General Information

Award of Contract – The Board of Selectmen will review proposals and make the final selection. The Town of Antrim reserves the right to reject any, all, or portions of proposals or to accept the proposal deemed to be in the Town’s best interest, regardless of the lowest proposal amount.

The Town reserves the right to:

  • Not award contract.
  • Waive any irregularities or informalities.
  • Accept the proposal deemed most beneficial to the Town.
  • Negotiate the scope of work with the selected contractor.

Estimates submitted should be accurate and on the most favorable terms to within one thousand dollars ($1,000) of the actual invoiced price.

Pricing: A lump sum, not to exceed price for the complete scope of work described above.

Payment: The Town of Antrim reserves the right to withhold fifteen percent (15%) of the total contract amount until a final inspection of the project is completed by the town and all work and material is determined to be completed satisfactorily.

Tied Proposal: When identical low proposals are received with respect to price, delivery, and quality, the Select Board will determine the successful bidder based on professional references for similar work.

Governing Law:  All Contracts entered by the Town shall be governed by the laws of the State of New Hampshire.

Submission Information

All respondents shall:

  1. Return a signed cost proposal sheet.
  2. Provide references for similar work with contact authority.
  3. Provide proof of insurance in the amount of $1,000,000 general liability and Workmen’s Compensation acceptable to the Town of Antrim.
  4. Bidders shall identify an anticipated start date and estimated duration of the project.
  5. Demonstrate familiarity with work of comparable scope.

Contractors are required to review planned construction locations prior to bidding.
