Happy Summer!
We are as excited as everyone ( including the loons) that the Gregg Lake dam repair was successfully completed and that the spring rains have returned the lake to our accustomed summer levels!

Our beach staff have been coordinating with the year round staff to have the facilities open with daily maintenance operations over the past few weekends.

Daily operations begin this week, with staff training and orientation through the weekend of June 28. Water Safety staff are on duty seven days a week in good weather condition's.
the dock will go out before the Fourth of July weekend.
Swimming lessons, with American Red Cross certified Water Safety instructors Brielle, Kendall and Jack will begin the week of July 13. We offer levels 1,2 and 3 for preschoolers ages 3-5 and for swimmers 5-14. Registrations for the lessons can be found by clicking on on the link on this page that says 'Click here to register for all rec programs'

A reminder of some beach guidelines:

The park is Carry-in, Carry -Out, please plan ahead with the resources to carry out any trash your day at the beach accumulates. A reminder it is very windy at the beach, so please prepare to keep track of light items that can blow into the water. We also discourage  glass bottles due to the risk of broken glass

All of Antrim Parks have rules prohibiting the use of any smoking or vaping products. Additionally, town ordinances prohibit the public consumption of alcohol.

Dogs and other pets are not allowed on the swimming beach between May 1st and September 30. Dogs are allowed to swim and enjoy the park on the beach area along the parking lot. We discourage dogs and people from swimming in the boat launch trailer parking area during busy times, for everyone's safety.

When our American Red Cross lifeguards are on duty, which is typically daily between 10 am and 5 pm, there are rules regarding the use of any flotation devices in the swimming area marked with blue and white buoys. The rules are: any flotation device must be a USCG approved Type 1 or Type 2 Lifejacket or PFD that properly fits the user. Additionally, the user wearing the pfd must be within constant supervision and within an arms length of a qualified supervisor, typically an adult or supervisor older than 14 years old. Please be cooperative with the staff on duty. Items that do not meet these guidelines include inflated water wings, pool noodles, inflated rafts, ring buoys or foam buoys.

There  is no diving/headfirst entry permitted from the dock, where the depth of the water is never more than 5-6 feet.Absolutely no diving or roughhousing in the swimming area or from the dock when guards are on duty, there is a swim test for anyone 14 and younger who wishes to swim out to the dock without a guardian. There will be some days whe we only have one currently lifeguard on duty, and that lifeguard will be paired with a senior staff member who has water and life safety credentials, including previous lifeguard certification, water safety certification and Nationally registered EMT status. During the times that the lifeguard on duty needs to take a break, these senior staff will be monitoring the water and swim area for safety, and these staff members have the skills and experience that qualify them for the role. The Guard on Duty safety guidelines pertaining to flotation devices will remain active during these lifeguard breaks.

Children ages 12 and older have the privilege of visiting the beach without a guardian, as long as they are safe, compliant to guidelines, and respectful to the staff on duty.

The park is open to all, regardless of residency. There is a parking fee for non residents, $10 per day. A season pass can be purchased for $100, which does not guarantee a parking spot, but covers that  parking for the season. All the fees generated by parking charges is returned to support the operations of the beach. Guests of residents who wish to park their car in the parking lot are required to pay for that parking spot.

The surface water at the public swimming beach is tested for Ecoli bacteria, monthly. If there  is a reason for concern, we increase the frequency of the testing. The water test performed on June 9 had excellent results with 1,1, and 2 found at the three testing locations.

When staff are on duty, we inspect the shoreline daily for any signs of a Cyanobacteria bloom.
