Antrim Parks and Recreation Commission (PARC) Meeting Minutes

December 12, 2019

Present: Celeste Lunetta, Mike Genest, Joan Gorga, Isaac Lombard, Christine Morris

Budget

CIP - Nothing new to report

 

Department

• Celeste reported that the revolving account is at an all time low but will be back up to an appropriate level once the funds for floor refinishing are received.

 

• Celeste will request funds from the Richardson Fund to cover appropriate expenses.

 

Walking Trail

 

• Isaac presented the walking trail concept at the November 18th Select Board meeting.  Isaac reported that Peter Beblowski spoke in favor of the concept.  Parking and bridge access were topics of discussion.  Peter will be looking into alternative access to the area.   

 

Town Gym

ConVal negotiations

• Celeste and Joan reported on the Nov 21st meeting with ConVal representatives Jim Fredrickson and Tim Grossi. 50/50 cost sharing discussed but has not been finalized as the basis for the cost is still being discussed.  ConVal will do further research on utility cost.  Follow-up meeting scheduled for December 19th.

 

Damaged door – Nothing new to report

 

Other

• Rollerskating organizers, currently being held at Great Brook, has informally requested to come back to the Antrim Town Gym.  Celeste suggested they submit a formal written request which will be reviewed by the Recreation Commission.

 

 

Shea Field

ConVal negotiations – Nothing new to report

 

Maintenance/Other

• Seeds and fertilizer for next season have arrived.

• Pitching wall still in progress.  Waiting for spring to build and install.

• No ice rink this year.

• Stakes around the infield to remain in place in order to minimize traffic in that area.

• Goal mouth area remains marked off limits in order to allow turf to recover.

 

Rec Dept

Update

• With additional help in the office Celeste will be able to continue the quarterly brochures.  Brochures are sent home through the schools, posted on the website and displayed around town.

• Indoor walking will be held at AES on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5 – 6 pm.  Adults only.

 

 

 

Gregg Lake

Beach/Point/Boat Launch

• Lake Host Sign was stored in shed for winter.

• Mike will look into when the TransAlta funds will be available.

 

Watershed Management Plan

• Action plan meeting was held on December 3rd.  Joan will approach the Select Board during the Jan 13th meeting about water level management at Gregg lake as well other recommendations from the Watershed Management Plan. 

 

Memorial Park

Maintenance/Other

• Tennis net was brought in.

• Skatepark graffiti still needs to be painted over.

 

General

• Joan will write the PARC article for town report.

• Celeste will write the ARD article for town report.

• Celeste is planning to reach out to other community members to join the PARC.

• Current PARC appointments to be finalized at the next meeting.
