TUTTLE LIBRARY TRUSTEES MEETING MINUTES
August 11th, 2020

Members Present:  Shelly Connolly, Diane Kendall, Rick Wood, Steve Ullman via Zoom.  Also present, Library Director Cindy Jewett

Public Comments: Kristy Boule of the Festival of Trees reported that the festival would not be held in the library this year due to COVID-19 related restrictions.  Her committee will be meeting later this month to discuss alternative plans.

Steve moved and Diane seconded acceptance of the July Minutes.  The motion passed.

Diane Kendall has been approved by the Select Board to replace Margaret Warner on the James A Tuttle Library Board of Trustees.

Treasurer’s Report was discussed and accepted. The bill from Northeast Door Corp for the panic bars installed on three exit doors has been sent to the town for payment.

Library Director’s Report:

Database usage is up.

The Ullman plaque for the podium is ready to be installed. Rick will install it.

The Inter Library Loan will be returning all books to their home library over the next 6 weeks.  After that plans will be made to restart the program.

Biblionix is due for renewal.  Cindy requested that the Premium Cover Service by added to our subscription. A motion was made by Shelly and seconded by Steve to Upgrade the Biblionix program to include the Premium Cover Service.  The motion was unanimously passed.

Elevator passed inspection

Summer reading program participation is down from last year.

Cindy will work on an inclement weather policy.  Currently the library does whatever the town does.  The policy worked on last year was never signed by the Trustees.

Old Business:

The Library Director’s evaluation has been postponed.  A new subcommittee needs to be appointed.

Train Project in the Children’s Room has begun.  The train platform is installed except for the bridge going over the palladium window.  The lumber has been donated by Antrim Lumber. Installation labor has been provided by members of the Antrim-Bennington Lions Club.  There are additional expenses, including supplies purchased from Edmunds Hardware and the track itself, that were not anticipated when we initially supported the project.  These expenses will probably run between $500 and $1,000. When completed, the train project will reference local spots where the train ran through Antrim years ago.  It may be possible to share these costs with the Antrim Historical Society.  The following motion was made by Diane and seconded by Steve:  The Library Trustees will support the historical train project and expend up to $1,000 from the Dunlap Trust.   The motion passed unanimously.

Shelly will send the list of people who have set up Trusts Funds for the library to Cindy and she will order a plaque.

The plaques have been removed from the green benches and are currently being stored in the kitchen at the library.  The woodworking group at Avenue A are working on them.

The Finding Nemo Fatheads are up in the Children’s Room.

The Slow Children signs have arrived and will be installed.

Rick is still researching the Tuttle Library Capital Reserve Fund and the purpose of the fund.

There was a recommendation that we use Google Docs to share files.  Perhaps Christopher Brinkley could set this up.

The flag that Andy Robblee offered to the town is 20 x 15.  This is too large for the location on the knoll in front of the library.  He also has a smaller flag that might be more appropriate.  John Robertson has a 35 foot pole for the flag.

New Business:

It is premature to discuss drones at this point.

Motion to adjourn by Steve at 7:47, seconded by Diane.  Motion passed.

Next Meeting, Sept 8th @6:30 PM
