Trustee Minutes December 20, 2022

Call to order 6:32 PM
Roll Call: Nancy, Steve, Rick, Cindy, Susan
Visiting: Michelle Caughey, Linda Morehouse

Absent: Diane Kendall

Public portion of meeting: Linda Morehouse, president of Friends of the Tuttle Library presented an update on the Friends’ activities and plans. Please see attached for full report.

Friends of the Tuttle Library are now officially registered as a 501c-3 nonprofit organization, which allows them to solicit and receive charitable donations. The Friends are linked to “Amazon Smile”: library patrons can indicate the library for targeted donations from Amazon purchases.

Upcoming events and projects, (also see report):

  • Art on Display.
  • Book Dash – book delivery for house-bound people.
  • Children bring their stuffed animals to the library spend the night. Photos of the animals are posted as staff poses the toys throughout the library.
  • Senior citizens socials.
  • Books for new babies donated to families.

Treasurer Report:

Budget is at 88% at end of November.
The 2023 budget has been submitted to the Select board.

Director’s Report:

$60,000 for CIP new windows on the second floor.
Tuttle Children’s Librarian, Laurie received the CLIFgrant of $2500.00 to partner with the school for programming featuring books and authors.

Unfinished Business:

  • YA/Merrifield: Cindy and Susan ordered furniture for the YA room.
  • Painting needs to be scheduled for both rooms.
  • Susan and Nancy will contact Tim Morehouse for scheduling.

New Business:

Patron Computers: Motion: Steve moved that the Trustees authorize the spending to replace the patron desktop computers of up to $2,000.00 to replace 2 initially, and to begin a rotation of removing oldest computers and replacing with newer models.

Staff Bonuses: End of Year Staff Bonuses discussed. Money to be allocated from trust fund. 
Steve moved that the trustees authorize end of year bonuses of $250.00 for each staff member and $500.00 bonus for the library director

2023 Board Rolls:

Diane will resign as a trustee at the end of the year
Nancy will run for trustee again
Susan will step into the Chair role – starting in February
Rick will take over the treasurer role in February
Nancy or Steve will take on the role of secretary
